WKÖ – Austrian Federal Economic Chamber
The WKÖ represents the interests of Austrian companies. The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber represents more than 540,000 member companies. The WKÖ is committed to forward-looking policies which benefit the economy e.g. tax relief, cutting red tape, and subsidies.
The Austrian Federal Ecnomic Chamber is a modern service provider and offer fast expert advice on topics from labour laws to customs information.
Through educational facilities – WIFI, universities of applied sciences – the WKÖ contributes to improving the competitive ability of domestic companies.
The metal technology industry is Austria’s strongest sector and forms the backbone of the domestic industry. It generates a production value of approximately 47 billion euros (2025), directly employs around 130,000 people, and indirectly secures 290,000 jobs in Austria. The export-driven industry is primarily composed of small and medium-sized family-owned enterprises, which make up over 85% of the sector and account for one fifth of all Austrian exports.
In total, more than 1,100 companies are represented within Metaltechnology Austria, these companies operate in areas such as mechanical engineering, metal goods, plant construction, steel construction, and foundries.
Metaltechnology Austria is one of Austria’s largest trade and employer organizations, operating independently within the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
